Introduction
The Huron County Law Library is a county agency. By statute, the county government is required to provide the Law Library with space, utilities, and necessary facilities. The Law Library is governed by its own Resource Board, which consists of five Huron County residents: one member appointed by the Prosecuting Attorney and two members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The other two members are appointed by the Municipal Judge and Common Pleas Judge and must be attorneys licensed to practice law in the state and in good standing before the Supreme Court of Ohio. The Law Library is funded by fines and penalties.
Mission
The Huron County Law Library’s mission is to provide the basic legal information needs of the members of the Huron County Bar and of the public.
Vision
The vision of the Huron County Law Library is to be a significant legal information resource center for the Huron County community. The Huron County Law Library strives to provide an environment that is conducive to learning and research.
Purpose
The collection is comprised of thousands of books, CDs, and other materials, all available to the public free of charge. This includes federal and state codes, statutes, and regulations, as well as a vast array of secondary sources such as treatises, law reviews, ALR annotations, Restatements, dictionaries, and legal forms. Guide books from publishers like Matthew Bender and Thomson Reuters are also accessible to the public. Additionally, the Law Library provides free access to online legal databases such as LexisNexis.

Borrowing Privileges
Members of the Huron County Bar Association in good standing are eligible to check out materials. Public patrons may utilize all resources on-site during library hours.
Staff & Users
- The Law Library staff consists of a part-time Director who assists patrons in locating specific reference materials. The primary users of the Law Library are members of the public and self-represented citizens. Additionally, a number of local attorneys who need access to a comprehensive collection utilize the Law Library.
